Not that I've seen in a long time - doesn't mean there are none but I would suspect the OEM's pretty much eliminated them as a pretty high potential for refrigerant loss.

Thanks, in the old "days " we used flare fittings a lot. I kow the pros and cons just thinking a flare would eliminate overheat of the valve. Also would be a faster change out of the valve.

However I don't see it happening

I agree 100%. Replaced my system a while back. Flared the drier in just ahead of the
evaporator where it should be. A good flare will last forever............... Wink

..I thought I saw a Trane coil recently with some type of mechanical connector, maybe flare. From some earlier discussion with Trane distributor reps, the option of converting 22 coils to 410A will be possible, by changing the TXV...

Most OEMs are using the Chatliff fitting on one end of the new TXVs. Placing all TXVs outside of the
coil cabinet would be one of the best digressions our industry has seen. That along with standardized
connections would fix most failed expansion valve problems........... Wink

Brand new 410 valve for an All Style coil yesterday. DOA and had to get a replacement. Last year I had a run of Alco power heads that were failing. The year before it was Parker valves leaking internally and getting jiggy.
